It feels like the job search is getting harder and harder these days. A few short years ago you couldn’t throw a rock without hitting one of the many recruiters trying to get into your LinkedIn inbox. But now, things have changed
Big companies are laying off employees in record numbers (in part due to AI) and competition is getting tougher. It’s not uncommon to see a job post have 100+ applicants after only a few hours – even for relatively junior roles. And everyone knows that recruiters are using AI to screen and shortlist candidates. With the volume of candidates they get, this isn’t just efficient – it’s necessary.
That means there is a digital filter before any human reads your CV.
Getting rejected without even having a person check you out seems unfair, but that's the nature of the game today.
For a high-demand job, up to 90% of candidates could be rejected by an AI, or be given a lower-ranked score by candidate enrichment systems (basically the same thing).
So how can you stand out in today’s hiring landscape? What can you do to make sure a recruiter reads your CV?
And the big one – should I use AI to generate my CV? This seems logical, an AI will pass the filter written by AI. But it isn’t always so simple, though AI can be a great tool to help craft a winning CV
