# Mastering the Split Design Pattern in CSS Flexbox

This design pattern allows us to divide a webpage into equal or varying portions, providing us with the flexibility to design our web pages precisely and optimally. ## Understanding the Split Design Pattern

The split design pattern starts with setting up our page with the standard boilerplate, defining the gutters and setting the display to flex. The initial idea is to have the first child take up 50% of the space, and the other one take the other half.

Hey everybody and welcome to the next lesson. We're going to be talking about

pattern. So let's start off with our regular boilerplate. We've we've set our

display flex. The next thing we need to do is we need to have a way to have

up. Initially we're going to just do 50% and this other one be 50%. First of

define the flex grow property for each of the direct children. And what this

you to grow at an equal amount. So we this one will grow as much as it can and

as much as it can. By default, it's still going to be based off the automatic
