In this chapter, you took a break from coding components and learned about maintenance of a UI library built with custom elements. You exported components with named 2015 exports so the UI library can be treeshaken by build tools like Webpack and Rollup. You optimized the distributed code by bundling it into one file. By distributing a FESM, build tools only have to interpret the exports from one file as opposed to many. This should speed up build times because build tools do not have to statically analyze the AST sourced from many different files. Next, you discovered how to write documentation for each component using JSDoc and provided rich documentation with Storybook and Custom Elements Manifest. Finally, you set up a continuous integration workflow using Github Actions that builds and validates the codebase, while deploying Storybook to Github Pages using automation.

All this work will come in handy for the final chapters of this book, where you will develop a single page application using the custom elements exported from the
