## DialogComponent

This autonomous custom element is unlike others we've developed so far in that there is no view associated with the element. `DialogComponent` behaves more like a controller in the traditional Model View Controller (MVC) paradigm. This component will pass the model from the values of HTML attributes to the view (a modal), which it will also instantiate. The `DialogComponent` is already a `class` which is the ideal interface for a controller. We can store state for the individual dialog here with some `class` properties. We'll need to store whether the dialog is opened or closed. Set a new property named `$state` and type define this as `open | close`, a strict type definition which means the value of `$state` can only be one of two strings: `open` or `close`. Set the type definitions for properties associated with the three HTML attributes we set in the previous section: `$target`, `$targetSelector`, and `$templateSelector`. Lastly, set a property named `$target` we'll eventually use to store a reference of the `ButtonComponent` (or any other target).

### Observing Attributes

Declare the `observedAttributes static` getter on the `class` and listen for the three HTML attributes: `target`, `template`, and `variant`.

Set up the `attributeChangedCallback` with the usual arguments: `name`, `prev` and `next` and a `switch` statement. If the `case` the `name` matches `template`, set the value of `$templateSelector`. In the case of `variant`, set the value of `$variant`. You'll reference these properties later in the component logic.

To associate the dialog with a target, declare a new method named `setTarget`, which requires a single argument named `selector` typed as a `string`. This will be the selector needed to query for the `ButtonComponent`.

Update the `switch` in the `attributeChangedCallback` to call `setTarget` when the `case` matches `target`. This may have to be wrapped in a `setTimeout` to work properly in the context of the LitHTML `html` function. We need to wait for a tick of the JavaScript engine before querying for the element, which is achievable by passing `0` to the second argument of `setTarget`.

### Setting the Target

In the `setTarget` method, set the value of the `$targetSelector` property you declared earlier on the `class` type definition. Query for the `ButtonComponent` using `document.querySelector` and set the reference of the `ButtonComponent` to `$target` for use later in this method.
