Just like in previous chapters, we'll start by creating a directory that stores all the files associated with dialogs. In a new file named

## Mocking the Dialog in Storybook

Just like in previous chapters, we'll start by creating a directory that stores all the files associated with dialogs. In a new file named `Dialog.stories.js` we'll explore the outward facing API of `DialogComponent`: a set of HTML attributes. We'll scaffold `DialogComponent` in a separate file. By the end of this section you should have a development environment in Storybook that allows you to develop `DialogComponent`.

### Define the Story

Make a new directory named `dialog` that's a sibling to other components.

Create a new file named `Dialog.stories.js` in the dialog directory you just created.

In `Dialog.stories.js` export the configuration in Component Story Format. Storybook needs to display a new story in the sidebar. The `title` of this Story is `Components/Dialog`. The tag name we'll use for `DialogComponent` will be `in-dialog`, which we can set on the `component` property. If you haven't already, start up Storybook with `yarn storybook`.

Import the `html function` from the lit-html package. We'll use this in the Story template.

Declare a new `const` called `DialogTemplate` and make it equal to a `function` that returns `html`. We can pass a template string into `html` first argument using shorthand syntax. In the template string, add a new tag named `in-dialog` and an instance of `ButtonComponent` that displays a primary button with the call to action "Open".

Import `ButtonComponent` into the story file so it will appear in Storybook.

### DialogComponent

We need to at the very least provide a boilerplate custom element of `DialogComponent` for the story. This will also enable development of `DialogComponent` in the next section. Make a new file named `Dialog.ts` in the same directory as the story.

Import the necessary reusable `function` from `@in/common`. For the autonomous custom element you're about to develop, you will need `Component` and `attachShadow`.

Export a `class` named `DialogComponent` that extends `HTMLElement`, being sure to call `super` and `attachShadow` in the `constructor`. This will give us a Shadow DOM template we can work with in the `Component` decorator.

Decorate the `class` with the `Component` decorator, setting the `selector` to `in-dialog`. Give the component all the styling it requires via the `style` property. Since `DialogComponent` will have no visual component, we can safely set `display: none` on the `:host`.
